The Yiddish Alphabet
I have no real plan regarding this blog, so if I´m giving you now some links to learn the alphabet, this does not imply that the next post will build on the knowledge from the previous. :) Let me tell you that it seems helpful in learning Yiddish to know - the Yiddish alphabet - the German language :D - the Hebrew language - some slavic language (Russian...) If you start at level zero, go for the alphabet. It will come in handy with the Hebrew as well. ;) The alphabet is called "Alef-Beys" because this is how the first two letters of the Yiddish alphabet are pronounced. There are minor differences between the Yiddish and the Hebrew alphabets. You can learn it from the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research (a prestigious institution!). Here you can see how the letters are written (by hand) (link from Förderverein für Jiddische Sprache und Kultur e.V. Düsseldorf ). I will try and add a list with useful links, until I manage to do this, I recommend you to read Basi
